But where did it all begin? 

Our humble story began back in 2010 when Founding partners, Martin and Steph Hill, originally opened a small, independent butcher shop in the heart of Norfolk. But it wasn’t just steaks and chops that customers were after and the topic of raw pet food, or BARF diet, was regularly bought up by their clientele. 

It was around the same time that Coco, Steph’s little Lhasa Apso, was diagnosed by the vet with liver disease. Spurred on by an effort to have as much time with Coco as possible, the married couple began to further investigate the benefits of raw feeding. Not before long, the nutritional advantages that a raw diet offers to pets become evident and it was this discovery that led Steph and Martin to re-focus their efforts on the pet food industry. So, with growing customer demand and a desire to do all they could for cuddly Coco, Steph and Martin took a leap of faith and in 2011, Petalicious was born!

Coco immediately became a different dog; energetic and living a full, happy and active life. Coco defied the odds and lived with the couple for a further 5 years and made it to 17 before she eventually passed! Whilst there can be no doubt that this wouldn’t have been possible without the vets’ assistance, it is undeniable that the change to a BARF diet had a profound effect on Cocos’ quality of life in her remaining years.
